Telecommunications (Radio Receivers) (Exemption from Licensing) Order

In this Order, unless the context otherwise requires—
aeronautical mobile service (航空移動服務), aeronautical mobile-satellite service (衞星航空移動服務), amateur service (業餘服務), amateur-satellite service (衞星業餘服務), maritime mobile service (海上移動服務), maritime mobile-satellite service (衞星海上移動服務), radio astronomy (射電天文學), radiolocation (無線電定位), radio-navigation (無線電導航), standard frequency and time signal service (標準頻率和時間訊號服務) and standard frequency and time signal-satellite service (衞星標準頻率和時間訊號服務) have the meanings assigned to them respectively by Article 1 of Chapter 1 of the Radio Regulations published by the General Secretariat of the International Telecommunication Union, edition of 1990, as revised from time to time.No person shall be required to hold a licence under section 8(1) of the Ordinance in respect of a radio receiver which—
is capable of operating only in frequency bands—
below 30 MHz; or
within which aeronautical mobile services, aeronautical mobile-satellite services, amateur services, amateur-satellite services, maritime mobile services and maritime mobile-satellite services operate; or
is used, or intended to be used, for any of the following—
the reception of meteorological or other information connected with the safety of life or navigation, which is broadcast for general reception;
the reception of the signals of any standard frequency and time signal service or standard frequency and time signal-satellite service;
radionavigation;
radiolocation; or
radio astronomy.
