Declaration of Constituencies (Legislative Council) Order 1997

In this Order—
approved map (獲批准地圖) means the map or maps—(a)submitted together with the report referred to in section 18(1) of the Electoral Affairs Commission Ordinance (Cap. 541) by the Electoral Affairs Commission to the Chief Executive on 31 October 1997;(b)specified in column 4 of the Schedule;(c)identified by reference to a plan number (Plan No.) prefixed “LCCA”;(d)approved by the Chief Executive in Council on 11 November 1997; and(e)deposited in the office of the Electoral Registration Officer; area code (地區代號), in relation to any constituency declared in this Order, means the code specified in column 3 of the Schedule and coloured red prefixed “LC” and followed by a number and described as “Recommended Legislative Council Constituency Area Code” in the legend of the relevant approved map; constituency boundary (選區分界), in relation to any constituency declared in this Order, means—(a)the boundary represented by the bold broken edging coloured red delineating, or partially delineating, that constituency and described as “Recommended Legislative Council Constituency Area Boundary which coincides with District Boundary and Urban/Regional Council Area Boundary” in the legend of the relevant approved map; or(b)the boundary represented by the broken edging coloured red delineating, or partially delineating, that constituency and described as “Recommended Legislative Council Constituency Area Boundary which coincides with District Boundary” in the legend of the relevant approved map, or that boundary and the “Recommended Legislative Council Constituency Area Boundary which coincides with District Boundary and Urban/Regional Council Area Boundary” referred to in paragraph (a), as the case may be; or(c)where any part of the boundaries specified in Schedule 2 to the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance (Cap. 1) joins or abuts any partially delineated constituency boundary mentioned in paragraph (a) or (b), as the case may be, or circumscribes or otherwise partially delineates that constituency—(i)that part of those boundaries so specified; and(ii)that partially delineated constituency boundary so mentioned.Each area named in column 2 of the Schedule and delineated on the approved map specified opposite thereto in column 4 of that Schedule is declared to be a constituency for the purpose of the first general election of persons to act as Members and the name of the constituency is specified opposite thereto in column 5 of that Schedule.
The number of Members to be returned for each constituency referred to in section 3 is specified opposite to its name in column 6 of the Schedule.
